Edo State Teens’ Craft Competition 2023, How it works!

EDOCRAFT 2025

The Edo State Teens’ Craft Competition is a yearly competition organised by Edo State Skills Development Agency (EDOJOBS) in partnership with SkillUp Naija, designed to encourage and support creative and innovative teenagers across the state. The competition aims to find, nurture and celebrate creative and innovative teenagers in Edo State.

 

Objectives of EdoCraft

  1. Promote STEAM Education: Inspire teenagers to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
  2. Foster Creativity and Problem-Solving: Build essential skills for innovation, critical thinking, and collaboration.
  3. Offer Practical Exposure: Provide hands-on experience in tackling real-life challenges through innovation.
  4. Identify and Support Talented Teens: Discover exceptional young minds and provide them with the support they need to grow.

HOW IT WORKS

The competition will take place both online and offline. Contestants are invited to showcase their inventions or innovations in areas such as:
– Generators (e.g., fuelless or solar-powered)
– Drones, robots, cars
– Fashion designs and Ankara crafts
– Woodwork and machines
– Other vocational, technical, and engineering creations

These innovations will be showcased to the public (online) and assessed by a panel of judges (offline).

Entry is free. Interested participants must:
– Be a teen innovator or aspiring innovator
– Present a creative or innovative product or concept
– Upload a photo of themselves with their invention/creation

 

COMPETITION STAGES & VOTING PROCESS

1. Auditions:
Shortlisted contestants will undergo the SkillUp Naija skills development and entrepreneurship training. Their projects will then be displayed online for public voting (each vote cost #50).

2. Public Voting – Stage Two:
The Top 50 contestants with the highest number of votes will advance to the next stage. Others will be eliminated.

3. Final Showdown – Stage Three:
From the Top 50, the Top 20 will be selected based on another round of public voting.

4. Mentorship & Grand Finale – Final Stage:
The final 20 contestants will be mentored by industry experts to refine their prototypes and prepare for the Grand Finale. Each finalist will present their project before a live audience and panel of judges.

Winners will be chosen based on a combination of public votes and judges’ scores.
